About This Role:

The processing unit within the Office of Student Financial Assistance is responsible to maintain the smooth delivery of Federal Student Aid to the students at the University.  Tasks performed include: 

• Auditing specific fields on the FAFSA to verify accuracy.  Various sources of approved documentation are used to conduct the audit.  When necessary, the incumbent will contact the student/family by phone/email to resolve issues to move the application for aid forward.  Updates to the system are made when discrepancies are discovered. 
• Analyzing documentation submitted by the student to resolve issues surrounding eligibility for Federal Student Aid.  Research is sometimes necessary to determine if documentation submitted is acceptable. 
• Reviewing reports and the results from queries to take appropriate action in the system.  Updates to certain data elements may be necessary to continue the efficient processing of the financial aid application. 
• Collaborating with other team members within the processing or advising units with the end goal of efficiently moving the student’s application for federal aid through each step.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Three years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher  
• Experience in a business-related field, such as accounting, finance, or tax preparation
• Experience in researching and interpreting regulations and compliance-related topics  
• Complex, analytical thinking skills 

Other Requirements:

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
• Individual may not be in default on a federal student loan and/or owe an overpayment on a federal student aid grant – to ensure that the individual may be issued access to various student aid databases by the U.S. Department of Education essential to completing tasks associated with this position.
