About This Role:

The K-State Social Work Program invites applicants to apply for a 9-month, yearly renewable, term position as a Professor of Practice for the 2024-2025 academic year. The position will support expanded teaching and development of K-State online BSW program. We are searching for a skilled and passionate instructor with knowledge of distance education practices. Responsibilities for this position include teaching seven to eight courses per year in core Social Work Content, limited advising, and departmental and university service.

The program will target candidates with demonstrated expertise and teaching interest in areas of Direct Social Work Practice, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Social Policy and/or Addictions Counseling. A strong preference for candidates with expertise in substance use disorders (SUD) or in criminal justice practice to support other departmental programs. Specific teaching assignments are determined with consideration of interests and expertise of the candidate and departmental needs. A preference given for candidates with experience in teaching diverse student populations in online or hybrid formats.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An MSW, DSW, or a PhD in Social Work from a CSWE-approved program.
  • At least two-years of social work practice experience post-MSW
  • Qualified for Social Work licensure in Kansas as LMSW or LSCSW

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of online or in-person teaching effectiveness.
  • Secondary expertise in Addictions Counseling or direct practice experience with clients with substance use disorders (SUD) or in the criminal justice system
  • Experience in teaching diverse student populations in online or hybrid formats.
  • Qualified for licensure in Kansas as Licensed Addictions Counselor or Licensed Masters Level Addictions Counselor

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

Salary is commensurate with experience in the range of $65,000.
