About This Role:

The Hybrid Cloud Engineer II is pivotal in designing, deploying, and managing hybrid cloud solutions to enhance the scalability and performance of the university's IT infrastructure. This position supports the Hybrid Cloud Organization in implementing robust cloud architectures across public and private components, optimizing cloud environments through automation and real-time monitoring. Additionally, the role involves collaborating closely with IT security teams and other IT departments to integrate security measures, manage resources efficiently, and ensure high levels of end-user satisfaction by maintaining a responsive and effective cloud infrastructure.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, or a related field.
  • Cloud Computing Experience: Solid experience in managing hybrid cloud environments, with a focus on cloud infrastructure design, deployment, and management. Understanding of public and private cloud dynamics is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in using cloud technologies and tools, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and private cloud solutions. Experience with cloud automation tools, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and cloud security practices.
  • Collaborative and Vendor Interaction Skills: Proven ability to work effectively within a team, and with cloud service providers and technology vendors. Understanding of the contractual and operational aspects of cloud service agreements and collaborations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively conveying complex cloud strategies and configurations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Implementation: Experience in designing and managing hybrid cloud environments, enhancing scalability and performance.
  • Cloud Security Expertise: Solid knowledge of cloud security principles and best practices, with a focus on safeguarding cloud infrastructures against threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Technical Proficiency in Cloud Technologies: Practical experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and tools for automation, management, and monitoring.
  • Budget Management for Cloud Projects: Understanding of budget considerations in cloud implementations, ensuring cost-effective allocation and utilization of cloud resources.
  • Advanced Technology Application: Skills in applying both established and emerging cloud technologies to improve cloud infrastructure capabilities.
  • Operational Efficiency in Cloud Services: Demonstrated ability to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cloud operations, focusing on automation and resource optimization.
  • Cloud Project Participation: Experience in leading and contributing to cloud-based projects, aimed at strategic enhancement of cloud services and integration.
  • Communication Skills in Technology Environments: Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly explaining cloud configurations, strategies, and benefits to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration in Cloud Implementation: Proven ability to work collaboratively within IT teams, fostering strong relationships to drive cloud adoption and optimization.
  • Analytical and Strategic Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a focus on addressing challenges in cloud environments through innovative solutions.
  • Support in Cloud Strategy and Operations: Ability to support strategic aspects of cloud operations, providing insights and recommendations to optimize cloud infrastructure and services.
