The Northwest Extension Agronomy program at the Kansas State University Northwest Research-Extension Center at Colby, Kansas is looking for a Research Technician. This person will be an integral part in conducting applied research of practical relevance to farmers across the High Plains. The successful candidate will plan and conduct field operations such as planting, harvesting, irrigation, and application; use, maintain, repair, and fabricate agricultural machinery; and assist in the collection of high quality data through field measurements.
Research Aide (Northwest Research Extension Center - Colby, Kansas) Other
The Northwest Research Extension Center in Colby, Kansas is seeking a Agronomy Research Aide who will assist the Area Agronomist with an agronomy research program. Duties includes: Assist in establishing crop trials and performing various tasks associated with field research, collect crop performance data in the field by performing sample counts of plant density, bloom dates, heads, ears, etc., process crop samples by weighing, counting heads or kernels, and counting seeds and perform data entry into manual notebooks or computerized systems.
Fellow (Post Doc) (Diagnostic Medicine / Pathobiology) Manhattan, Kansas
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc.) The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting ongoing research in identification of protective African Swine Fever Virus antigens, formulation of prototype vaccines, and conducting efficacy studies in pigs. Additional area of research will involve defining novel protective BVDV epitopes, testing efficacy and cross-protection of novel BVDV mosaic antigens in cattle. Some efforts will also be directed at the development/optimization of Lateral Flow diagnostic tools and EliSpot readouts of interest for which there is no commercial products in the market. The on-going USDA and NIH supported research projects will utilize multiple live vector platforms, and studies will be conducted in commercial swine and cattle at BSL2/3 levels.

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Fellow (Post Doc) to quantify the agronomic and physiological responses of low lignin and conventional alfalfa varieties responses to a range of water-limited conditions, and their impact on yield and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for imposing drought stress under field-based rain out shelters, manage experiments, schedule temporal data collection, sampling followed by biochemical and quality analysis of alfalfa samples. In addition, the candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team comprising of PIs in crop physiology, forage management, animal nutrition and forage extension.

The Northwest Extension Agronomy program at the Kansas State University Northwest Research-Extension Center at Colby, Kansas is looking for a Research Technician. The successful candidate will take a lead role in the execution of a 3 year project utilizing cutting-edge scientific instruments to quantify processes in a producer grown field of grain sorghum. This project will measure soil water, plant growth, and CO2, water vapor, and carbon fluxes at a very fine scale. This position will have responsibility for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic equipment, will have responsibility for conducting daily QA/QC of collected data, and will have responsibility for in-field sampling campaigns of both plant and soil properties.
