Assistant Professor, Sorghum Breeding and Genetics Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
Assistant Professor, Sorghum Breeding and Genetics 12-month, tenure track position, 80% Research, 20% Teaching Position #W0007443 Location: Department of Agronomy, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506-5501 The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is seeking an Assistant Professor to develop an innovative research and teaching program in sorghum breeding and genetics to address objectives that enhance the productivity, sustainability, and profitability of sorghum production in Kansas and the Great Plains. Responsibilities include leading a breeding program to develop and release new sorghum germplasm, parent lines, and hybrids. Areas of innovation could include germplasm characterization, application of functional genomics, statistical genetics, and applied molecular breeding approaches to sorghum breeding. Specific research targets may include abiotic and biotic constraints to production and pursuit of improvement for productivity and profitability. The presence of a large and diverse community of sorghum researchers with the KSU Center for Sorghum Improvement and USDA-CGAHR provides ample opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The incumbent is expected to develop an externally funded research program including the training of graduate students, peer-reviewed publication of research results, and promoting collegiality within the KSU and broader communities. Responsibilities include teaching courses in plant breeding/genetics, and the development of commercially relevant improvements in sorghum through public-private collaborations. The candidate must be able to work in a multicultural setting and create an environment that fosters collegiality, diversity, and teamwork.
Part-time Instructor, Animal Health Olathe, Kansas Hybrid eligible (partially remote, must reside in US)
The instructor will teach a graduate-level course either in-person or online in the areas of animal health that relate to research and development, regulatory affairs and compliance (FDA/USDA/EPA), pharmacovigilance, quality assurance, statistics, and/or business data analytics and insights.
EFNEP Nutrition Assistant, Southwest Kansas Garden City, Kansas On-site requirement
Nutrition assistants support the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program's (EFNEP) mission of providing personalized nutrition education to youth and families with limited resources. This position will involve planning and preparing for events, teaching clients about health and nutrition, keeping records, and recruiting families who could benefit from joining EFNEP. This position will serve youth and families in southwest Kansas and is based in Garden City, KS.
Assistant Forester (District Fire Management Officer) Other Hybrid eligible (partially remote, must reside in US)
Kansas Forest Service is hiring two full-time positions as District Fire Management Officers within the KFS Fire Program. These positions help the Fire Program to meet the needs of fire departments and communities we serve by being the direct contact for the program to the fire departments and related organizations within their assigned district. They will help provide training, direct incident support, and have the opportunity to more effectively pursue relations with those we serve. The location for these positions is flexible within the NW, SW, and SE district and they are eligible to work remote in a hybrid/partial capacity.
SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator, Douglas County Other On-site requirement
Nutrition educators support the Kansas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) mission of empowering limited-resource Kansans to achieve healthy lives and reduce health disparities. Specific strategies include direct education; community-based projects to address policy, system, or environmental changes; and public health approaches to help children, families and adults improve dietary quality, develop food resource management skills, and increase physical activity. This position will serve the Douglas County area and is based in Lawrence, KS.
