About This Role:        

This position is tasked with advancing the Center for Engagement and Community Development (CECD) and Kansas State University’s healthy food access work.  Specifically, this position will pursue this task by providing technical assistance, assisting with grant development, event management, and managing partner and stakeholder relationships.
- Organizing and Providing Technical Assistance (40%): The successful candidate  will organize our technical assistance offerings.  This requires that they research, organize and analyze data for the primary questions asked by healthy food access stakeholders.
- Assisting with Event Management (20%):  As part of our outreach and dissemination of information, we host a quarterly advisory board meeting, rural grocery workshops and a national rural grocery summit every two years.
- Managing Partner and Stakeholder Relationships (15%):  This individual communicates regularly with our partners and stakeholders, including planning, marketing, organizing and conducting webinars and face-to-face professional training meetings around Kansas. Developing - - Publications (15%): The successful candidate will work within a team to write and produce several publications to include fact sheets and Success Stories.
- Grant Management (10%):  This position will work collaboratively to identify, facilitate, and develop grant proposals that advance the university’s healthy food access initiatives.

In 2007, Kansas State University formed a leadership team of interested rural food access stakeholders and launched the Rural Grocery Initiative (RGI).  RGI has now become a nationally recognized initiative dedicated to helping launch and sustain rural food retail operations.   In 2017, RGI joined several other partners to launch the Kansas Healthy Food Initiative (KHFI).  This initiative, which has just been renewed for three years, is a public-private partnership that aims to increase access to affordable healthy food to improve the health and economic development of Kansans and their communities.  To help advance both RGI and KHFI, K-State is seeking a team member to assist with these healthy food access initiatives.  This is a term position, contingent on favorable annual evaluations and available funding.  Funding currently exists through summer, 2023.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three to five years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Proven record of organizational and administrative skills
  • Evidence of success in project management: organizing and managing project teams
  • Strong research and data analysis skills
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Ability to work both with university faculty and public stakeholder groups
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in diverse and changing environments
  • Ability to travel across KansasGrant management
  • Prior experience with food systems
  • Commitment to citizen-empowered community development
  • Experience with databases; experience with Adobe Suite, experience with mapping websites and/or software (examples would include PolicyMap, ArcMap)

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

 $49,500 - $65,000
