About This Role:

Kansas State Polytechnic seeks an outgoing and customer-service minded individual to serve in the position of Information Technology Support Specialist. The IT Support Specialist manages the day-to-day help desk support services for the Polytechnic campus, assisting users by identifying IT problems and finding and executing resolutions to problems.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma and two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Extensive knowledge and a minimum of two years of work experience in the following areas:
    • Direct support of end-users in troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware, peripherals, connectivity, and software issues.
    • Installation, termination, and verification of network cabling.
  • Three or more years of experience providing computer/network support at an institution of higher education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to provide clear technical guidance both in-person, over the phone, and through other remote-assistance technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multicultural and diverse individuals.
  • Able to periodically work some nights and weekends.
  • Proven history of ability to work with little to no supervision and exercise good judgment in using time and resources effectively.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to make critical decisions with little or no direct input from a supervisor in resolving complex problems.
  • Anticipates future trends and implications accurately.
  • Sees the big picture
  • Separates and combines activities into efficient workflows.
  • Seeks ways to improve processes
  • Anticipates customer needs and provides services that are beyond customer expectations.
  • Uses user insights to drive and guide the development of new offerings.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain effective and long-lasting relationships with users

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Ability to work on a ladder at heights up to 10 ft.
  • Able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Working knowledge of simple tools (drill, saw, hammer, screwdriver, air-compressor)

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$18.75 – $22.65 per hour
Note: Salary offers are commensurate on experience and education.
