About this Role:

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is seeking two temporary, full time, Research Assistants. These positions will perform test on serum using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbant Assay (ELISA) for human SARS-CoV-2 serology (CoVID-19) samples. Setup, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment and participate in the quality system. Assist with accessioning.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Perform ELISA testing for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies on human serum samples.
    • Accession samples
    • Organize and prepare samples
    • Prepare plates
    • Run testing
    • Enter results
    • Prepare reagents and other consumables
  • Lab Maintenance/Safety:
    • Prepare regents and solutions for use in diagnostic tests
    • Record temperatures and equipment readiness for QA/QC program
    • Fill tip boxes and restocking of physical inventory necessary for the function of the laboratory
    • General upkeep and cleaning of the laboratory when necessary
    • Perform all procedures and duties following system safety protocols
  • Quality System:
    • Perform quality assessment and quality control documentation needed for the Lab to stay in compliance with regulations
    • Assist in SOP updates and corrective actions

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year laboratory experience, including excellent pipetting
  • Organizational and communication skills

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

$ 17.42 - $ 28.00 per hour
