About This Role:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a full-time Assistant Scientist to coordinate field and laboratory activities within the Wheat and Forage Extension program. This individual will organize and coordinate schedule of activities, including coordination of interns and visiting scholars, performance of field activities related to sowing, managing, and harvesting research plots. Other duties include: Organization, coordination and performance of agronomic sample collection from the field and processing in the lab to be performed from a variety of studies looking at different fertilizer managements and agronomic practices. Organization, transportation, and inventory keeping of samples collected within the wheat and forages research program. Maintenance of field and laboratory research equipment (keep equipment in clean and orderly fashion) and maintenance of the growth of different research trials. Typing and summarizing data from different research experiments. Previous experience with agronomic research is preferred.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Agronomy or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license upon employment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge on how to handle small plot equipment (tractor, drill, combine) and haul equipment trailer.
  • Experience with precision ag equipment such as GPS.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$17.42 - $29.61 per hour. Salary commensurate with experience.
