About This Role:

Extension Assistant, Project Coordinator Kansas Agriculture Mediation and Farm Business Analyst Program – Variable Time (7.5 tenths to full-time)

About Us:

The Kansas Agriculture Mediation Program (KAMS) is the United State Department of Agriculture Certified State Agriculture Mediation provider for Kansas.  KAMS’s services are available to Kansas residents who desire assistance in resolving all types of agriculture related issues.  The K-State Farm Analyst Program provides intensive one-on-one business and financial analysis to Kansas farm families. Farm Analysts work with farm and ranch families in a private and confidential manner to assist them in goal setting, assessing their current situation, evaluating alternatives for restructuring the farm business and mediation options.

Responsibilities Include:

Manage the Kansas Agriculture Mediation and Farm Analyst Program.   Supervise staff and farm analyst contractors to assist farm and ranch managers in assessing their current operation and mediation options, communicate with constituencies regarding case load and other program metrics.  Along with clients set business and personal goals. Conduct financial planning analysis of clients’ farm/ranch business to assist them in better understanding their financial situation to make informed decisions. Assist farm and ranch managers to develop and analyze options and alternatives to improve farm profitability and survivability. Facilitate analysis for families who qualify for assistance in the Kansas Agricultural Mediation Program. When appropriate attend mediations and assist mediators to reach successful outcomes.


Manhattan, KS with remote telecommute work possible. Travel and/or remote telecommute to conduct farm financial analyst work throughout northeast, north central and east central Kansas. Occasional travel to other parts of the state may be required. Applicant will use their private vehicle for travel and be compensated according to the state mileage reimbursement rate.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in agricultural economics, finance or closely related consulting field and one to three years of experience in Program management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Program management experiences with M.S. in agricultural economics, finance or closely related consulting field.
  • Experience assisting farm and ranch managers with financial planning a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong familiarity with Kansas production agriculture.
  • Internet access at home.
