About this Role:

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Research Assistant OR Research Associate. This position will support the recently funded projects from federal and foundation sources and also to get involved in the Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Diseases (CEVBD)-funded newly developed research projects with the intended goal of generating preliminary data needed for the future grant proposals.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Assist with laboratory management, equipment maintenance, placing orders and receiving chemicals and reagents.

  • At the Research Assistant level: Assist and work with other technical staff in performing cell culture, molecular biology and protein analysis experiments and also participate in experiments involving animals and ticks.
  • At the level of Research Associate: Conduct research independently as per the guidance of Dr. Ganta. Also collaborate with other technical staff in performing cell culture and molecular biology, and protein analysis experiments and also participate in experiments involving animals and ticks.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Research Assistant: Bachelors Degree

Research Associate: Masters Degree in any area of biology/microbiology and two years of experience in cell culture, molecular biology, immunology, protein studies or vivo studies with obligate bacteria

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in any area of biology/microbiology
  • Prior research experience in any field of biology

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

Research Assistant: $ 36,240 - $ 40,000 annual salary

Research Associate: $ 40,000 - $ 55,000 annual salary
