About This Role:

The Biomedical and Computing and Devices Lab (Director: Punit Prakash) in the Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research on computational modeling of energy-based image-guided interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of academic investigators, industry, and clinicians at medical centers. This position will provide an opportunity for the selected candidate to play a leading role in the formulation and development of personalized computational models of image-guided interventions, and evaluation of model performance with data gathered from clinical studies. An area of emphasis, will be the development of patient-specific models of microwave ablation procedures. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the formulation, development, and evaluation of multi-scale computational models of drug-device combinations. The selected candidate will be provided with mentoring and a supportive environment to grow as a researcher, and will be encouraged to initiate and develop new research directions. Opportunities to attend scientific conferences and workshops will be provided. The selected candidate will be provided opportunities to attend professional development workshops and receive training on grant writing, technology translation/commercialization, and teaching/course development.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in engineering or applied computational/physical sciences, or completed all requirements for the degree and receive the degree within 3 months of starting this position
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields: electromagnetic, bioheat transfer, or fluid dynamics modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with one or more of the following areas: electromagnetic, bioheat transfer, drug delivery, and/or multiphysics modeling; medical image analysis; medical device development and evaluation; pre-clinical studies in animal models
  • Fluency in a high-level programming language is preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$53,760 - $56,000 annually
