About This Role:

This unclassified professional non-exempt position is primarily tasked with providing design, installation, maintenance and technical support for internal and external IP-based network and workstation systems for the division and specific university clients, including dedicated broadcast and office systems. Secondary tasks include acting as engineer-in-charge (EIC) for division and athletics production events, hosting IP-based teleconferences (hybrid and virtual-only) and performing limited video production duties (close-captioning and digital signage). This position will require occasional weekend and evening work.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires four years of relevant experience in broadcast, mechanical or electronic engineering with 2 years experience maintaining managed computer networks and providing end-user support for workstations.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or certification in electronic communication, computer networking, broadcast engineering or associated field.
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (PG)
  • SBE® CBNT or CBNE certification
  • Valid Class B (or higher) commercial drivers license
  • 2+ years experience with broadcast network systems, servers and automation systems
  • Experience with IP-based teleconferencing software systems (e.g. Zoom, GoToMeeting, Teams)
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit (RR)
  • Valid Kansas drivers license
  • Strong interpersonal and written communications skills
  • Strong computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets

 Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Normal color vision
  • Normal hearing
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs to waist height
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs above head
