About This Role:

The A.Q. Miller School of Media and Communication seeks a Student Success Coordinator to join us in helping students emerge ready for what’s next in their careers, communities, and lives. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues inside and outside the School to advise and support undergraduate students, assist with student recruitment and engagement activities, lead retention and student success efforts and strategy, and support a culture of student success. This position reports to the School Director.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Advise undergraduate students regarding curriculum, course load and scheduling, course registration, goals, and available resources
  • Lead new student orientation each summer and throughout the year
  • Implement, develop, and evaluate student success and persistence initiatives within the School
  • Inform and collaborate with School faculty regarding effective student retention and support practices
  • Engage students who are identified as needing support
  • Assist with curriculum matters, including course scheduling, academic program assessment, and student statistics and trends
  • Assist with the development and implementation of effective student recruitment, including campaigns, programs, events, and activities, including assisting with the School’s Ambassadors program
  • Complete other duties as needed by the School and assigned by the Director connected to student success

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, including experience working with underrepresented populations, ability to engage in inclusive communication, and experience developing supportive relationships with diverse students and faculty
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak effectively one-on-one and in groups
  • Master’s degree or certificate in academic advising, counseling, student development, or related field
  • Familiarity with media, communication, advertising, and/or public relations disciplines / industries
  • Three years or more of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success working alongside faculty, staff, and students to create an outstanding university experience
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize electronic communication, digital media, and computer applications necessary for advising, recruitment, and retention
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and make decisions using data
  • Demonstrated experience with student academic advising, including in intrusive advising, monitoring student progress, and incorporating up-to-date and effective advising practices.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for special events

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$40,576-$51,729 / annual
