About This Role:

The Maintenance and Repair Technician II performs maintenance and repair duties for new and renovated apartments for the Jardine Apartment community consisting of 38 buildings, offices, meeting rooms, and retail space; an Honors House; and Brockman House (guest housing).  The is a full-time, 40 hours per week, year-round position. Regular work hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain specialized equipment and building systems to include heat pumps, HVAC units, air compressors, water softeners, pumps, valves, electrical control systems, piping for domestic water systems, waste and vent piping, and lighting control equipment.
  • Assists in adjusting heating and cooling controls.
  • Diagnose, service, and maintain plumbing and electrical systems to include clearing stopped drain lines, flush valves, shower valves, sink and lavatory components; replacing outlets, and switches; resetting circuit breakers; testing and maintaining fire alarm and emergency lighting systems. 
  • Performs monthly checks of apartments for pest control, fire extinguishers, and emergency and exit lights.
  • Inspects building sprinkler systems, pressure, and valve tags to identify potential repairs.  Documents findings and maintains records, reports, and actions according to established procedures.
  • Performs other maintenance and repair tasks including, but not limited to, repairing hardware, locks, openers, closers, and blinds.  Makes minor repairs to furniture and custodial equipment.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires one year of relevant experience. Various training and/or certification may be required. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school graduation/GED
  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate professionalism and a desire to provide exemplary customer service
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Knowledge of tools and safety precautions related to skilled trades work

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Valid driver's license upon employment
  • Prefer Class I asbestos worker certification

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$15.73 - $19.65 per hour
