About This Role:

Design | Architectural Structures
The Department of Architecture at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2023. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant professor and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester - an architectural design studio and either a required lecture or elective seminar in their area of expertise.

The successful candidate will demonstrate interest and ability to teach architectural design studios. Entry-level studios require the ability to teach fundamental design skills, including spatial and formal composition, graphics, and modeling techniques, while upper-level studios require the ability to teach the design and technical skills necessary to resolve and document architectural intent from the urban scale to the detail. Demonstrated excellence in teaching architectural design studios across the curriculum is preferred.

The successful candidate will assume a leadership role in the teaching of architectural structures. They will develop and teach a lecture/laboratory course, the second in a two-course sequence, that requires instruction in creating practical connections between structural systems and architectural design including qualitative and quantitative analysis of structural systems. Developing this course will provide the candidate with an opportunity for collegial collaboration in revisioning the teaching of architectural structures and building technologies in the department. In addition, the successful candidate will have the interest and ability to develop and teach seminars in their area of expertise and will develop a research/creative agenda related to this expertise.
