About This Role:

The Human Capital Specialist I position is vital to administrative operations of the Department of Agronomy. This position is responsible for all recruitment processing in PageUp, by guiding and advising hiring managers and search committee chairs to fill Faculty, Unclassified and USS positions.  Serves as HRIS Timekeeper to process time and leave, ensuring that all employees are paid each pay period.  Prepares hire documents for student hourly and temporary hires.  Oversees and supervises main office reception functions, manages and supervises teaching and research Faculty administrative support functions, manages and assigns office space and maintains department space inventory, and performs communication tasks to promote the department.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and two years experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from technical college with emphasis in office administration, and two years word processing experience on a computer.
  • Knowledge of English, spelling, grammar and pronunciation.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard formats for letters, memos, and reports.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to proofread narrative and/or numerical copy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and general public.
  • The ability to remaining calm and poised under pressure.
  • The ability to promote a positive image for the department, the college, and the university.
  • Ability to use computer and various software programs (most current version of MS Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) and be willing to learn new programs and equipment as available.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$15.73 - $19.65/hr. Salary commensurate with experience.
