About This Role:

Assist the Assistant Head for Teaching with administering and managing the Agronomy Teaching program.  

  • Plan, coordinate, and teach Agronomy Orientation (AGRON 101) and Internship in Agronomy (AGRON 405) courses. 

  • Administer the departmental internship program. 

  • Coordinate workshops to help prepare students for internships and professional certification exams. 



  • Organize and coordinate enrollment of incoming students. 

  • Serve as liaison with College Academic Programs Office for implementation of academic policies and procedures.  

  • Provide information to students and faculty regarding curriculum, scholarships, and employment opportunities. 

  • Manage Agronomy Teaching office and supervise student employees. 

  • Compile data and prepare reports relating to student enrollment, graduation rates, and program assessment.  

  • Serve on relevant department, college, and university committees. 



  • Actively participate in the recruitment and retention of Agronomy undergraduate students, including planning and attending recruitment events. 

  • Coordinate prospective student visits.  

  • Coordinate and promote the Agronomy Ambassador program. 

  • Compile, update, and disseminate promotional materials used for recruitment, retention and placement of undergraduate students. 

  • Maintain contacts and build strong relationships with potential employers. 

  • Assist students in finding and securing internships and employment. 



  • Serve as primary academic adviser for 10-20 undergraduate students.  

  • Serve as the Wheat State Agronomy Club Permanent Advisor, to include attending regional and national conferences, local club meetings and events, and assisting with fundraising and accounting. 

  • Support departmental faculty in academic advising. 

  • Track and verify records for students enrolled in the agronomy minor.  

  • Serve as first contact for all agronomy undergraduates to promote student engagement and enhance student success. 

The candidate must be able to work in a multi-cultural setting and create an environment that fosters collegiality, diversity and teamwork. Travel and extended hours during nights and weekends occasionally required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. in College Student Development, Student Services, Academic Advising, Agronomy or related field. Excellent communication skills in written and oral English. Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate student advising and teaching. Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic background or experience in agronomy. Experience with student records, academic advising and teaching. Experience with Kansas State University Student Information System (KSIS), Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), and Student Success Collaborative (SCC).

Other Requirements:
