About This Role:

 

The Budget/Fiscal Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all accounting, budget and fiscal operations for Extension Programs, including 4-H Youth Development.  This position will also provide accounting support to the USAID Post Harvest Loss Innovation Lab (PHLIL) until grant work is complete.  Duties will include:

 

  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day fiscal operations; including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants, and 4-H Foundation accounts ensuring compliance with established accounting principles and Kansas regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Perform all financial management, post award accounting, travel planning, and procurement for 4-H Youth Development, Extension Programs and PHLIL.
  • Supervise other accounting and fiscal management personnel.
  • Assist HR Analyst with recruitment, on-boarding, time and leave, payroll transfers and funding updates.
  • Fill in for other office personnel during peak times or while they are away during Extension events.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and one to three years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related discipline
  • Knowledge of budget/accounting and procurement practices, procedures and principles
  • Experience in compilation, analysis, and interpretation of financial reports
  • Experience in positions requiring attention to detail and applying independent judgment with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proven initiative and ability to work independently
  • Inquisitive and comfortable performing in-depth research
  • University post-award grant experience
  • Experience complying with federal, state, and university regulations and policies
  • Experience responding to needs and requests of a wide range of clients in a friendly manner and with an effective communication style
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience working on a successful team and commitment to expanding and fostering diversity

 

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Successfully complete supervisory training within six months of hire

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$20.68 - $26.45 ($43,000 - $55,000/annual)
