About This Role:

The Division of Facilities at K-State is hiring for a Plumber position. This position is responsible for planning and scheduling from start to finish any assigned projects by using journey level knowledge of plumbing techniques to install, remove, replace, or repair all utility lines above or below grade.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires two years of relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager. This position is covered by the Kansas Association of Public Employees (KAPE) agreement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, and specifications, and read and understand specific instructions in English.
- Prefer High school graduate or equivalent with vocational training in the plumbing trade.
- Thirty months of experience in plumbing work.
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Become a certified Class I repair and maintenance operations asbestos worker during the probationary period and maintain it.
- Cross connection control and back-flow prevention certification required during the initial probationary period.
- Work requires considerable physical exertion to transport equipment/material weighing over 50 pounds unassisted on a repetitive basis.
- Daily bend, stoop, and crawl to access small spaces and work in extreme temperatures.
- Tools: Power and hand tools, saws, pipe threaders, gas and electric powered sewer cleaning equipment, stationary drill press, power saws, state vehicles and as required, protective clothing and respirators.
