About This Role:

Housing and Dining Services (HDS) seeks a qualified carpenter to join our Facilities Management, carpentry/lockshop team. The team provides safe, secure living and learning facilities for students, staff, and guests of Kansas State University. The carpenter position performs a variety of skilled work to include, but not limited to:
- Repair furniture and built-in furnishings.
- Demolish, alter, and construct walls, ceilings, floors, etc.
- Patch, repair and hang drywall.
- Install cabinets, counter tops, door frames, doors, hardware, flooring, ceilings, and furnishings.
- Inspect and maintain roofs.
- Repair walls, ceilings, floors, trim, doors, window sashes and screens.
- Install and patch floor coverings.
- Assist with ordering materials, reviewing blueprints, organizing and planning projects.
- Secure and organize tools, equipment and materials.
- Maintain records and perform other duties as requested.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires two years of relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer completion of related trade/vocational school or apprenticeship program.
- Ability to promote and sustain effective, positive, cordial working relationships.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment and techniques used in the carpentry trade.
- Knowledge of building and occupational codes.
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
- Valid driver’s license upon employment.
