About This Role:

The successful candidate will coordinate and teach courses in Agricultural Systems Management, which provides students with a technology foundation for one of five career tracks including precision agriculture, production agriculture, animal and human health product manufacturing, water management, and agribusiness management. The specific courses will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate with opportunities in Engineering Systems and Technology, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, and Environmental Engineering along with application and precision agricultural equipment and technology, and water resource management.  

A successful candidate must have the ability to teach, enhance, and promote undergraduate education, advise students and student clubs, and promote scholarly activities.  The candidate must be an effective communicator, instructor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and management skills along with a commitment to team building and continuous improvement to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, and industry. The candidate should have the willingness to participate in industry relations, student recruitment, student organization advising, and career placement.

Expectations include:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty, programs, and professional organizations.
  • Contribute to development and execution of experiential learning opportunities.
  • Engage with industry or governmental entities to meet the needs of regional employers.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Agricultural Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Education or a related discipline.  (A B.S. degree in these fields will be considered; if selected, the successful candidate will be required to obtain an advanced degree in a relevant area of study.)
  • Background in agricultural machinery and/or natural resource systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering license
  • PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Education or related discipline
  • Five years of experience in industry or teaching
  • Significant engineering practice experience in agricultural machinery and/or natural resources management
  • Experience with precision agriculture.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

Professorial rank is based on academic experience and accomplishments commensurate with departmental guidelines for each academic rank.  Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and qualifications.
