About This Role:

Kansas State University Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina is seeking an experienced Budget/Fiscal Officer to oversee and manage the campus budget, revenues, and expenses. In addition, this position will be responsible for:

  • Completing financial reports and determining financial needs and associated tuition increases, fee adjustments, and service rates
  • Reviewing and organizing all funding for the campus to determine availability for salaries, operating budget, construction projects, large equipment purchases, etc.
  • Daily management and supervision of Fiscal Services unit
  • Collaborating with Exec Director of Administration and Finance on financial submissions to Kansas Board of Regents
  • Collaborating with CEO/Dean to determine appropriate salary rates and adjustments for new and current hires
  • Participating as a member of the College Business Officers group
  • Liaison, financial, and management oversight and review for auxiliary contracts and vendor services
  • Managing the Salina Cashier’s functions, auditing and enforcing policy relative to cash handling and internal charges
  • Acting as administrator for Sage and MIP
  • Collaborating with Office of General Counsel, Purchasing, and Pre and Post Awards to oversee campus contracts, purchasing, grants, and insurance needs
  • Reviewing contracts, agreements, and MOUs for operational ability to comply and fit with campus and University mission. Negotiating terms with external customers as needed.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related field highly preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant status or MBA
  • Experience in accounting in higher education
  • Prior experience in managing human resources and accounting staff
  • 10 years’ experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring budgets in an educational environment demonstrated progressive experience in a complex business environment
  • 5 years experience of progressive management and supervisory experience in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reporting and financial analysis
  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex financial information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules, regulations, and principles of higher education accounting and financial reporting

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$80,000 - $110,000, depending on qualifications
