About This Role:

Kansas State University and the College of Education is seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure track assistant professor in Educational Leadership housed in the Department of Educational Leadership to begin August 2024.

The vision of the College of Education at Kansas State University is “preparing educators to be knowledgeable, ethical, and caring decision makers.” This position, along with all positions in the College of Education, is directly responsibility for advancing this vision and that of the Department of Educational Leadership.  The Educational Leadership program focus leads to professional building or district licensure as a school principal or superintendent, exemplified by coursework school improvement, staff and curriculum development, policy analysis, educational technology, research seminars, school finance, school law, personnel administration, social justice, educational politics, school facilities, and problems-based leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses in the teacher leader, building licensure, and district licensure programs on-campus, via distance technologies, and on-site in partner districts; advising/mentoring graduate students; gaining graduate faculty status from the Graduate School; and serving on and chairing masters and doctoral committees.  The successful candidate will have earned doctoral degree in educational leadership/administration or closely related education field.  The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for teaching graduate level courses in both face-to-face basis and distance (asychronous and synchronous) modalities depending upon the department needs. A successful candidate should have an established record of scholarship and successful experience teaching adult learners.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in educational leadership/administration or closely related education field;
  • Experience as public school building and/or district administrator;
  • Knowledge of and strong interest in designing, implementing, and instructing face-to-face and online courses;
  • Ability and commitment to work collaboratively in group settings;
  • Willingness to establish scholarly activity, which includes peer-reviewed publications and national presentations;
  • Expressed value in and commitment to integrate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in course design and delivery at the graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the college level
  • Have experience with qualitative research and interest in teaching course/s in qualitative research
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience merging theory, research, and practice
