About This Role:

The Assistant Vice President/Deputy CIO for Enterprise Systems partners with the CIO in developing and leading the organization’s strategy and management of enterprise applications.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of the university's enterprise applications environment.
  • Oversee high performing teams and work collaboratively across a large complex organization managing a complex portfolio of services and applications.
  • Oversee all operational and future-state aspects of the enterprise applications, including maintenance, patching, upgrades, with a focus on continuity of operations.
  • Manage relationships with enterprise applications vendors, hosting providers, and managed service partners, ensuring SLAs are met and that services align with university needs and budget constraints.
  • Develop and implement both current and future-state roadmaps for enterprise applications and data integration platforms, ensuring policies and procedures support the strategic direction and security of the environment.
  • Lead and develop the Enterprise Applications team, promoting skills advancement in ERP environments and associated technologies, operations, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning, along with adaptability within the team and across the university, aligning skill development with strategic needs and emerging threats.

Worksite Options:

This position requires remote worksite. What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in developing and managing large complex enterprise applications within a higher education environment.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills, with a proven ability to build, manage, and mentor multidisciplinary enterprise applications teams.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise applications, trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, with experience in managing and implementing ERP environments.
  • Excellent project management skills, capable of leading complex information enterprise application projects, including modernization, rationalization, and policy development.
  • Experience in vendor and stakeholder management, including SLA negotiation, and partnership development to support campus initiatives. 
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Leadership in Complex Enterprise Application Environments: Demonstrated ability to lead with a strategic vision in the domain of enterprise applications, executing critical strategies within areas of responsibility. Ability to inspire and propel the team toward achieving the goals of the continuous improvement.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning Expertise: Extensive knowledge of current enterprise resource planning systems, with a particular focus on modernizing, upgrading, implementing, and integrating. 
  • Financial Management for Enterprise Applications: Robust skills in budget planning, financial oversight, and resource management tailored to enterprise application environments, ensuring strategic objectives are met within financial parameters.
  • ERP Strategist: Expertise in assessing, selecting, and implementing current and emerging ERP and enterprise applications.  Ability to align application portfolio with organizational strategic objectives, thereby enhancing operational processes, business operations, and risk management.
  • Operational Excellence: Capacity to improve operational efficiency and the effectiveness of enterprise application delivery and functionality adoption, ensuring high resilience, risk mitigation, and compliance across information systems and assets.
  • Project Management: Exceptional project management skills demonstrated by successfully managing complex institutional wide projects. Ability to oversee complex enterprise architecture, policy development, and application modernization projects from start to finish.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to convey complex issues to a non-technical audience. Proven ability to establish rapport, influence decision-making, and facilitate cohesive communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building: A track record of effective collaboration and relationship building, with strong interpersonal skills essential for fostering partnerships across various departments and with external partners or service providers to achieve unified campus goals.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$200,000-$235,000
