About This Role:

The Center on Aging (COA), within the College of Health and Human Sciences, seeks a Project Coordinator to join their team. This position will provide support and leadership for an active service research project by coordinating the project's day-to-day activities and monitoring, supervising, and executing the specified project work plans. This position reports to the COA Interim Director.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and oversee completion of on-site interviews with pilot sites for pre- and post-testing purposes
  • Develop and conduct staff training virtually
  • Facilitate strategic planning and team meetings with nursing home sites
  • Track and monitor relevant project expenses, ensuring they are within project budgets
  • Lead project team meetings to discuss progress and maximize productivity
  • Oversee daily administrative, operational, and logistical activities for the project team

This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position. The selected candidate will be expected to work approximately 20 hours per week.

Why Join Us:

The Leading Age Project is a collaboration between the Center on Aging and the Leading Age Moving Forward Nursing Home Coalition to test the Resident Goals Priorities and Preferences (GPPs) Guidebook. One of the top 10 citations on nursing home surveys is F-tag: F656 – Comprehensive Care Plans. That suggests that many nursing homes lack the bandwidth or resources to address residents’ full set of goals, preferences, and priorities (or GPPs). But it doesn’t need to be hard to meet GPPs. The Addressing Goals, Preferences and Priorities guide offers accessible, easy-to-use strategies and steps to talk to residents about what matters to them and realize them in everyday care.

The Center on Aging is a dynamic education and research center focused on providing an innovative gerontology curriculum and aging services development and evaluation (https://www.hhs.k-state.edu/aging/). We have well-known expertise in long-term care services and support, and we facilitate a nationally recognized person-centered care program for nursing homes for the state of Kansas (PEAK). The Center’s academic programs encompass an undergraduate minor, secondary major, Master’s degree, and graduate certificate. We also serve older Kansans and their families through community engagement and outreach and our aging services research projects. At Kansas State University, we are a transdisciplinary unit housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences, with collaborative relationships across several academic departments and centers both within the College and across the University. Our faculty and staff have existing partnerships with K-State Research and Extension programs, regional universities, the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), various national long-term care organizations, and national research partnerships.

The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health; Hospitality Management; Interior Design & Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, Physician Assistant program, and a Nursing partnership with Wichita State University. The College enrolls more than 2,300 undergraduate and 400 graduate students and employs more than 115 full-time faculty members in teaching, research, and Extension positions (https://www.hhs.k-state.edu/).
