Fellow (Post Doc) Manhattan, Kansas
The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Fellow (Post Doc) to take on an interesting multi-disciplinary project aimed at enhancing post-flowering heat and drought tolerance in soybean. The major responsibility of the successful candidate will be carry out systematic characterization of soybean diversity panel under field based heat tents, use data generated on yield, yield related parameters and grain quality, and carry out GWAS analysis (in collaboration with MU colleagues) to identify genomic regions contributing to enhance heat tolerance in soybean. In addition, the candidate is expected to characterize the heat and drought response of soybean redox engineered transgenics to heat and drought stress in growth chambers and lysimeter facilities. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate actively with other members of the crop ecophysiology lab and soybean breeding programs.

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting ongoing research in identification of protective African Swine Fever Virus antigens, formulation of prototype vaccines, and conducting efficacy studies in pigs. Additional area of research will involve defining novel protective BVDV epitopes, testing efficacy and cross-protection of novel BVDV mosaic antigens in cattle. Some efforts will also be directed at the development/optimization of Lateral Flow diagnostic tools and EliSpot readouts of interest for which there is no commercial products in the market. The on-going USDA and NIH supported research projects will utilize multiple live vector platforms, and studies will be conducted in commercial swine and cattle at BSL2/3 levels.
