Kansas State University, Office of the Vice Provost of Student Success, is seeking a part-time Academic Services Coordinator who is passionate about improving the experiences and outcomes of students historically underrepresented in higher education. The Student Success Academic Services Coordinator will work with a cross-functional team at K-State dedicated to creating a Community of Connection for underrepresented minority (URM) students. Our aim is to build a critical infrastructure to expand and coordinate the important but currently diffuse initiatives at K-State intended to support URM student success in STEM and other disciplines. We have an initial inventory of over 70 programs designed to support URM students at the university. Some of these programs are funded by corporate donations, some by federal grants, and others are tied to university budgets. There are significant administrative, tracking, reporting and evaluation demands. By creating a comprehensive, coordinated, and integrated system of support for underrepresented minority (URM) students across the student lifecycle, we anticipate great success in attracting and retaining a talented and diverse student body. The Student Success Academic Services Coordinator’s primary duties involve identify potential funding streams, determining an appropriate process for applying or seeking out funding, as well as identifying other individuals who might help with the application process.

Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programming related to horticulture. Programming will include but is not limited to: horticulture crop production, marketing and economics, conservation of natural resources, horticulture waste management, and landscape maintenance and improvement.

Primary teaching responsibilities consist of an introductory course in crop science that includes a laboratory (AGRON 220) in fall and spring semesters, a plant and seed identification/seed analysis course (AGRON 350) in spring, and one additional course in their area of expertise. Teaching responsibilities also include coaching the Crops Judging and NACTA Contest Teams, youth programming and recruitment, undergraduate advising, and advising the departmental undergraduate student club associated with the national organization (SASES) within ASA/CSSA/SSSA.
