Research Technologist (Biosecurity Research Institute) Manhattan, Kansas
The Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) is hiring for a Research Technologist. This individual will assist the supervisory Animal Health Officer with broad support and coordination of activities associated with infectious disease research and food security studies. Responsibilities include waste management, decontamination, adherence to animal welfare regulations, assisting research teams in project planning and operational logistics, and training research staff on procedures, protocols and equipment operation. Duties include report generation, database inputs and user interface, work with large animals (livestock) and small lab animals (rodents and rabbits) in BSL-3 and BSL3-Ag research projects, assisting with coordinating animal space use, assisting with technical procedures involving animals as required for research projects, decontaminating spaces and equipment and equipment with specialized technologies, and removal and decontamination of waste via alkaline hydrolysis tissue digestion equipment and autoclave sterilization. Position also supports necessary coordination for unique biocontainment areas used in food safety and security studies.
Fellow (Post Doc) Manhattan, Kansas
The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University seeks a post-doctoral Fellow position to support research efforts related to the Farming Systems team. The applicant for this position will be part of a large, multi-university, collaborative consortium focused on developing digital tools with the regional focused in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. A successful applicant should have familiarity with geospatial data and an ability to develop and use geospatial resources drawn from a variety of sources including remote sensing, global map products, and point biophysical and socioeconomic data. This may include knowledge of remote sensing, GIS, spatial statistics, data analytics, experise in coding, or related areas. This postdoctoral position will also involve close collaboration with researchers, policymakers, and agronomists in target regions to co-design digital tools. A successful applicant for this position will have both technical ability and a strong background in agronomy and data science as well as an interest in working closely with the end-users of the data generated in this work.

Laboratory Technician (Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory) Manhattan, Kansas
The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Laboratory Technician position. This position within KSVDL exists to serve the needs of clientele/stakeholders (clients, faculty, residents, students, coworkers) in regards to necropsy and sample reception, and assistance with all activities on the necropsy floor. This position will oversee and manage all necropsy floor activities including scheduling for teaching and research, disinfection, adherence to biosafety procedures and protocols in accordance with the KSVDL quality system, management of student workers, maintenance of equipment, record keeping related to the above activities, and maintenance and oversite of the KSVDL bulk autoclave and tissue digestor. This position will also serve as an assistant to pathologists in necropsy procedures and sample collection from other samples (i.e. rabies testing, BSE testing, CWD testing). Some flexibility may be required regarding work hours at selected/occasional times.
Research Assistant (Diagnostic Medicine / Pathobiology) Manhattan, Kansas
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Research Assistant. This position for BSL-2, BSL-3 Zoonotic and infectious viral projects, includes working with animals at the BSL-2 and BSL-3 level of bio-containment. The candidate will assist in the laboratory with routine molecular biology techniques, RT-PCR, PCR, cloning, maintaining various cell cultures, propagating viral stocks, general laboratory maintenance and animal handling in BSL-2 and BSL-3 Ag biocontainment. Select Agent and DOJ clearance is required for this position. The candidate will assist in technical editing or formatting manuscripts for submission to selected journals. The candidate will help write Standard Operating Procedures as well as biosafety manuals.

The Wildcat Extension District is comprised of Crawford, Labette, Montgomery and Wilson Counties in southeast Kansas. The population of the district is about 95,000. The district staff is housed in five offices including Girard, Pittsburg, Altamont, Fredonia and Independence. There are thirteen agents, five office professionals and three program assistants. The district is the home of Pittsburg State University, Coffeyville Community College, Independence Community College and Labette Community College. There are 27 incorporated cities with Pittsburg, Parsons, Independence and Coffeyville having the largest populations. Extension agents are community based faculty of Kansas State University who make a difference by connecting community needs with university resources. Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will provide primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programming related to nutrition, food safety and health. Programming will include but is not limited to: nutrition through the life cycle, nutrition of low-income audiences, food security, consumer and food handler food safety, physical activity promotion, cooking tips and techniques, and chronic disease prevention and maintenance.
