About This Role:

The College of Agriculture/K-State Research & Extension’s Business Services unit is seeking an Accountant I will provide day-to-day accounting support.

The Accountant I will complete accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, post & reconcile in accounting system, may supervise students, answer faculty/staff inquiries, and manage daily office administrative operations.

This position will provide uninterrupted services and support to the following areas:

Accounts Payable

  • Create payment documents and process vendor and internal department invoices in eForms
  • Provide training and support to unit(s) for all BPC holders regarding receipts, expenditures, and monthly Concur submission
  • Review and process travel related expenditures submitted by employees
  • Review all documents for accuracy and address discrepancies with Accounting Manager as needed.
  • Complete interdepartmental requisitions as needed and review monthly statements for services used by the assigned unit.
  • Manage facilities and telecomm work orders and invoices

Accounts Receivable, Deposits & Foundation:

  • Coordinate accounts receivables from department service and product sales.
  • Process deposits, record CashNet and credit card receipts using departmental accounting system
  • Process invoices, generate interfund vouchers
  • Complete reimbursement requests and deposits to/from Foundation accounts using K-State’s Foundation’s electronic system (FIN)

General office support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the assigned unit(s)
  • Answer and direct inquiries to the appropriate contact while using a positive, professional attitude
  • Receive, send, and distribute mail
  • Track, order, and replenish necessary office supplies
  • Maintain electronic calendars, send list-serv announcements, facilitate vehicle requests, conference room reservations or assist with scheduling and events as needed or determined by supervisor or unit head.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience in accounts payable functions
  • Higher education certificate or degree in a related field
  • Computer proficiency/ability to learn new systems. This position uses Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and K-State internal systems such as eForms and Concur.
  • Experience responding to clients in a friendly and effective manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, determine priorities, take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$18.27-$21.63/hour
