About This Role:

Join our HDS financial services team in the role of Accountant I. 

Duties include:

  • Process accounts payable transactions to ensure supplies or services have been received and properly coded for payment.
  • Audit, process, and reconcile Business Procurement Card purchases.
  • Audit interdivisional invoices.
  • Audit and reconcile cash funds for various retail operations.
  • Monitor and collect encumbrance and accrual information. 
  • Administer and process a portion of departmental travel and training expenses.
  • Audit and monitor records of departmental mobile telephones.
  • Complete other duties to include testing and implementation of various software systems, compiling reports, and assisting with other accounting functions for a large, complex department.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (prefer Business) or minimum four years’ experience in an accounting role that required familiarity with university, state or federal accounting compliance and GAAP principles, including accrual accounting procedures.
  • Cash handling experience, including auditing cash funds in a retail environment.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP or similar large database ERP financial system.
