About This Role

The Department of Computer Science at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cybersecurity. We seek outstanding candidates with fundamental/foundational cybersecurity research expertise applied to research areas such as energy, formal methods, cyber-physical systems, and artificial intelligence (AI). The successful candidate will pursue a cybersecurity-focused research agenda, will contribute to cybersecurity education, establish internal and external research collaborations, and attract external funding for a self-sustaining research program.

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (completed by the start date).
  • Demonstrated research expertise in cybersecurity.
  • Strong publication record in high-quality venues.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hardware and/or software forensics, and/or reverse engineering, and/or malware analysis.
  • Experience with cybersecurity in energy systems, smart grids, and/or critical infrastructure.
  • Background in formal methods for security verification.
  • Experience at the intersection of cybersecurity and machine learning and/or AI.
  • Experience collaborating with industry, government agencies, or national laboratories.
  • Evidence of successful grant writing and securing research funding.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

$100,000-$115,000
