About This Role:

The Associate Vice President for the Kansas State University Research Foundation (KSURF) is a senior executive role responsible for leading the strategic direction and operational management of the technology transfer and commercialization functions within the institution. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of strategies to effectively transfer research innovations into commercial products and services, fostering partnerships with industry and driving the successful commercialization of intellectual property (IP). The Associate Vice President will play a critical role in enhancing the institution's impact through successful tech transfer activities and advancing its mission of innovation and public service.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Ten years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., MBA, or JD) in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Law, Science, Engineering) preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience in technology transfer, commercialization or related fields, with a proven track record of leadership and success in a higher education or research environment.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property management, licensing practices and commercialization strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions and improve processes.
  • Experience in providing oversight and direction for budgets, resources, and complex projects.
  • Experience ensuring a collaborative and dynamic environment with opportunities for significant strategic impact and professional growth.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$162,646-$276,507 annually
