About This Role:

The Department of Housing and Dining Services seeks qualified applicants for Assistant Director for Student Outreach and Community Development. The position is a crucial part of shaping the university’s outreach efforts, leads departmental activities and efforts related to student recruitment initiatives and manages student focused committees and well-being initiatives ensuring students feel supported and engaged throughout their university experience.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee Housing and Dining Services activity related to campus visits, residence hall and apartment tours, and other prospective student events. Work closely with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions as well as other offices for special events for group visits.
  • Supervise an Assistant Coordinator for Departmental Initiatives (Graduate Assistant) and co-supervise other graduate assistant and student staff positions such as tour guides/event staff.
  • Oversee department community development model and serve as a committee co-chair for Wildcat Experience committee. Provide a connection to campus resources and lead department CAT TRAX involvement with Student Programs and Involvement office. Conduct related research to student involvement.
  • Provide oversight for residential house including supervision of part-time staff. Coordinate campus resources to provide student programming opportunities.
  • Serve as a primary leader for well-being initiatives between Housing and Dining Services and K-State Morrison Family Center for Student Well-Being.
  • Advise the National Residence Hall Honorary student organization.
  • Serve as part of the Student Living Leadership Team which includes rotating on-call responsibilities.

Worksite Options:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in student affairs, college student development, higher education administration, or related field.
  • Three years full time work in housing administration or related student affairs work.
  • Experience with recruitment of prospective students and families.
  • Experience in community development models and programs.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting public presentations.
  • Supervisory experience.

Other Requirements:

  • The successful candidate must have the ability to participate in rotating on-call duty and have some scheduling flexibility.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$58,700 - $62,000 per year
