About This Role:

The Administrative Support Center (ASC) is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented accounting coordinator who excels at multitasking and customer service. The accounting coordinator will act as a point of contact between the assigned ASC-supported departments, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, and external parties, such as vendors. This position will handle payment review and preparation, depositing, invoicing, monthly financial reporting, sales tax, grant post-award accounting, and resolving discrepancies.

To succeed as an accounting coordinator, you should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. You should be ethical, thorough, and attentive with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Accounting Coordinator works in a supportive, flexible, team-centered environment, offering a hybrid work option.

Accounting Coordinator Responsibilities.

  • Ensure timely payments of invoices and reimbursements.
  • Issue invoices and ensure funds are collected and recorded.
  • Making journal or ledger entries in the shadow accounting system. Preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports, as needed to support departments.
  • Reconciliation, including identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as a point of contact between ASC-supported departments and central business units, serving as a liaison to answer questions about university policies and procedures.
  • Staying current on the university, state, and federal financial regulations and policies.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of relevant experience. Educational equivalency may be used as determined relevant by the hiring manager.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years experience in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 4 years experience in professional accounting/auditing work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and math skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with computers, especially accounting software, strong typing skills
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multitasking

$20.30 - $24.86/hour
