Housed in the Division of Communications and Marketing, or DCM, and serving the offices of the President and Executive Vice President/Chief of Staff, and reporting units, this position works closely with other DCM staff in the development of marketing, communications and multimedia projects, ensuring adherence to university branding guidelines. The specialist will collaborate with the external engagement teams to write, review and distribute communications through a wide range of media, targeting various audiences. This includes social media and web, writing news releases, managing data and other communications efforts. Additionally, the specialist will provide logistics support, track progress and manage deadlines of various projects.
The Division of Communications and Marketing, or DCM, was established in 2010 to provide strategic leadership for marketing and communications in service of the advancement of the university's brand and reputation in the marketplace.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of one year’s experience in professional communications.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or a related field.
Experience managing digital/social media business or brand accounts.
Experience in public relations, marketing and/or journalism.
Ability to synthesize information, plan and create public presentations on a variety of subjects.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the university and with external stakeholders.
Strong customer service orientation and commitment to the university’s inclusive mission, with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and a proven ability to work effectively and collegially under pressure.
Proven ability to exercise considerable tact, judgment, confidentiality and diplomacy.
Excellent attention to detail and accountability for results with the ability to plan and organize work to meet deadlines.
Experience synthesizing and implementing direction and feedback from multiple administrators to produce marketing and/or communications products that meet the expressed needs.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills to include the ability to develop content that engages the reader/viewer and effectively tells the story.
Ability to work with creative teams, identify and support brand standards, successfully manage interpersonal relationships, work within strict deadlines, think creatively and learn new technology quickly.
Ability to interact effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural environment, and with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
