About This Role:

This position is part of the Housing and Dining Services Jardine Apartments  cleaning team. This team provides inviting spaces to students, faculty, staff and guests by ensuring that facilities are clean, sanitized, tidy, safe, and appealing for residents and guests.  Regular work hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Duties include:

  • Performs heavy industrial “ceiling to floor” cleaning in vacant Jardine Apartments, administrative areas, and classroom. 
  • Maintains attractive surroundings by picking up litter and debris, cleaning outdoor stairwells, handrails, landings, sidewalks and commons areas. Removes snow, spreads salt and sand stairs and sidewalks.
  • Provides hotel type housekeeping services for conference groups and other guests residing or staying in departmental facilities. 
  • Makes minor repairs to equipment and stores equipment securely and properly.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Custodial experience
  • Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning equipment
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in custodial work
  • Ability to make basic repairs, perform basic maintenance tasks

Other Requirements:

  • Valid drivers’ license upon employment
  • Bloodborne pathogens training to be completed upon employment
