The Custodial Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in ensuring custodial operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of cleanliness. Serving as a key liaison between custodial staff and facility management, this position helps foster a clean, healthy, and welcoming environment for all building occupants. Additionally, the role is essential in preserving and sustaining the university’s structural assets. Success in this position requires frequent, professional interaction with students, faculty, staff, and visitors, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The Division of Facilities is an action-oriented service organization within the K-State family. We plan, budget, build, operate, maintain, clean, supply and transport. We are custodians, landscapers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, project managers, engineers, architects, accountants, and administrative professionals – all stewards and leaders of an inspiring campus shared by many.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • One year of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of principles of inventory control and of the principles and techniques of supervision.
  • Ability to organize and clearly express information in concise written form; assign and supervise the work of subordinates and to train and instruct employees in cleaning and other housekeeping duties; and to maintain and organize filing and record keeping systems.
  • Two years of custodial experience in building, industrial, or institutional custodial work.
  • 18 months experience being in a supervisory capacity and experience in scheduling and assigning subordinates.

Additional Role Information:

  • Completion of KSU Introduction to Supervision within the probationary period required.
  • Daily: Computer, Telephone, Two-way radio.
  • Weekly: State Vehicle, Sweepers, Vacuums, Scrubbers, Buffers, Carpet Cleaner.

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
