About This Role

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Diagnostic Technician. The person in this position will perform duties related to service and research.

Perform tests on various analytes such as serum, whole blood, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and mild using agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID), ELISA, indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA), agglutination, radial immunodiffusion (RID), and SNAP to detect antibodies and enter results into LIMS and other database system in the lab. Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment and maintain the quality system through document reviews as well as corrective action responses and ensuring the quality of the test results. Training student help in the lab or other duties assigned by section head.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diagnostic Tech I: Requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalence as determined relevant my hiring manager.
  • Diagnostic Tech II: Requires an associate degree and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient computer skills including experience with databases, spreadsheets, word processing and data entry are required. The applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Two or more years of laboratory experience
  • Demonstrates proficiency with fluorescence microscopy methods and biosafety training and practices
  • Bachelor of Science with emphasis in microbiology, virology, and serology preferred

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

Diagnostic Technician I - $16.76-28.49 per hour based on qualifications

Diagnostic Technician II - $18.86-32.05 per hour based on qualifications

Hiring manager will determine appropriate position level candidates will be hired into based on candidate education, experience, and department needs.
