About This Role

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time Diagnostic Technician. This position will support daily testing in the analytical laboratory.  The primary role will focus on assistance in test development and testing of water samples for the Kansas Water Institute in veterinary cases. Additional tasks include but are not limited to: performing analytical testing, helping order supplies, updating daily logs, chemical inventory, and waste management. Employee will be expected to prepare samples for diagnostic testing following SOPs in place and in accordance with AAVLD guidelines independently and within time constraints.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diagnostic Technician I: Requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.
  • Diagnostic Technician II: Requires an associate degree and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields
  • Previous laboratory experience, preferably in Chemistry
  • Organization skills, time management skills, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience working within a set of pre-determined accreditation standards

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

Diagnostic Technician I: $16.76-$28.49 hourly

Diagnostic Technician II: $18.86-$32.05 hourly

Hiring manager will determine appropriate position level candidates will be hired into based on candidate education, experience, and department needs.
