About This Role:

The labs of Erick DeWolf and Kelsey Andersen Onofre in the Department of Plant Pathology are seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to develop models and disease forecasting systems for wheat diseases in Kansas and throughout the United States. The successful candidate will also assist with the development of strategies for climate-based risk assessment addressing multiple diseases threatening the productivity of wheat in North America. This individual will also support field and greenhouse research programs including planting, visual assessments of disease, harvesting and occasional application of research treatments.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Development of statistical models for predicting epidemics of wheat diseases in Kansas and throughout the United States.

  • Develop strategies for climate-based risk assessment for diseases threatening wheat productivity in Kansas and the United States. 

  • Support field and greenhouse research programs including planting, visual assessments of disease, harvesting and occasional application of research treatments.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in a field related to the assigned responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or related field. Experience with plant disease epidemiology and modeling of plant diseases.
  • Experience organizing and analyzing results of replicated experiments common to plant science.
  • Experience working with disease evaluation field environments.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and spoken communication skills.

Other Requirements:
