About This Role

Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture and Department of Entomology seeks a highly qualified Fellow Post Doc. The main priority for this Post-Doc is to work on a multi-region, multi-institutional project funded by the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture- focusing on developing mitigation tactics, prediction models, and automated remote monitoring tools for ameliorating the biosecurity risk posed by the quarantined khapra beetle, and the invasive larger grain borer.  The Kansas State University Department of Entomology is collaborating with the USDA-ARS Center for Grain and Animal Health Research in Manhattan, KS and the University of Thessaly (Volos, Greece) for this project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining insect colonies for research.
  • Publications and presentations of research.
  • Conducting experiments with live insects.
  • Analyzing data from experimental results.
  • Writing final reports on the research.
  • Preparing and delivering oral or poster presentations of research.

Worksite Option 

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., DVM) in a field related to the assigned responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. expected in short term in entomology or related field of Biology or Agriculture
  • Direct experience with reviewing scientific literature, designing experiments, and conducting research with insects in both the laboratory and field.
  • Experience summarizing and Analyzing experimental data with statistics.
  • Experience writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals based on the research they have done during their Ph.D. research or post graduate research.
