About This Role

The department of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc). The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting research in identification of the role of neurons in monocyte and macrophage activation and antimicrobial responses. The essential work include in vivo and in vitro work in mice, isolation and culture of monocytes and macrophages, conducting infection and challenge experiments in primary cells and mice. Additional area of research will involve conducting gene expression analyses, and flow cytometry and cell sorting. Some efforts will also be directed at mice breeding, weaning and genotyping, and method optimization and training new lab members . Previous hands-on experience in immunology techniques, molecular biology, and macrophage biology is required.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD training in Immunology/Molecular biology/Microbiology
  • Hands-on experience working with mouse model of infection/challenge, isolation and culture of primary neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages, conducting safety, efficacy studies of compound/cells in lung injury/sepsis model
  • Hands-on skills in flow cytometry/cell sorting
  • Hands-on skills in immunofluorescence
  • Scientific writing experience
