About This Role

This position performs and leads high-level financial analysis, reporting, and compliance activities within the Division of Financial Services. The role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial data to produce university-wide reports used by leadership and external agencies to evaluate institutional performance.

The Fiscal Analyst II ensures compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, supports the preparation of the University’s Annual Financial Report (AFR), and leads special projects related to financial reporting and data modeling. This position also reviews and establishes general ledger structures to maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data across systems.

Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible. This position is hybrid eligible; however, the first 90 days are required to be 100% on-site. After that period, hybrid eligibility may be granted based on individual performance, with a requirement of three days on-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the advanced quantitative and analytical skills required to conduct complex financial modeling and ensure regulatory compliance. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field
  •  Experience in higher education or governmental accounting/financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles
  • Experience with financial systems, reporting tools, and data analysis (e.g., Power BI,Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Analyze complex financial data
    • Reconcile discrepancies and recommend solutions
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders
    • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
