About This Role

The Department of Grain Science and Industry and the International Grains Program (IGP) Institute are seeking applications for an Educational Program Coordinator. This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment with a term contract, renewable annually. The primary objective is to manage course participant registrations and the administrative tasks necessary to conduct professional development courses in various modes of delivery.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate set-up, activation, and de-activation for all course registrations, both on-site and virtual.
  • Ensure course registration details are active and consistent on webpages.
  • Communicate with participants on all activities relating to course registration and pre-course planning including payments, course activity, hotel information, transportation, discounts, registration issues, etc.
  • Manage and track all course participant registrations through proper Excel and Teams channels.
  • Build file structure in cloud storage platforms such as OneDrive, Dropbox, Teams, etc.
  • Follow up with speakers and faculty to collect course materials.
  • Assist the Education Manager in the setup, delivery, and management of distance education courses as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of education calendar.
  • Collect, analyze, share, and maintain data on participant activity.
  • Troubleshoot participant course access issues and escalate as needed.
  • Develop help guides for technology and processes, as needed.

IGP Institute is housed within the Grain Science and Industry Department and serves Kansas and U.S. commodity organizations through its global education center housed in the Edge Collaboration District at K-State.
 
The mission of the IGP Institute is to provide technical, research-based training benefiting industry professionals globally and enhancing the market preference for U.S. grains and oilseeds. To meet this mission, course offerings are led by KSU faculty and industry professionals in the areas of flour milling and grain processing, grain marketing and risk management, and feed manufacturing and grain management. Along with on-campus trainings, our faculty lead customized on location workshops as well as distance and virtual education courses.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, education, public relations, business, or other related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in adult education, education, educational media, human resources, instructional design or similar; and two or more years’ experience producing education materials
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to speak English clearly and to work in a multi-cultural setting
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently and within groups
  • Customer service oriented with ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence with investigating and troubleshooting technology issues
  • Experience using a variety of technology such as: Navigation of various Internet browsers, Canvas administrator role, web conferencing platforms, Qualtrics administrator, Microsoft Office Suite, Camtasia, Mediasite, Dropbox
  • Higher than average skills with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to operate audio and visual equipment
  • Comfort interacting with international audiences and foreign cultures
  • Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and collegial environment that promotes access and opportunity for all
  • Conversant in multiple languages
  • Knowledge of the university setting with awareness of policies and procedures

Other Requirements:

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Travel both in state and out of state may be required. Current Kansas driver's license or ability to obtain a driver's license is required.
  • Ability to complete KSU passenger van training and drive on-site participants, if needed
  • Travel: less than 5%
