The small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Health Center is a 12-month post-DVM clinical program. Interns rotate between all small animal services, including zoo/exotics and clinical pathology if desired. Intern schedules are personalized according to each intern’s intended post-internship professional goals. Interns participate in after-hours emergency duty on a rotating basis and will remain in the hospital overnight. Interns on emergency duty also assist in oversight of ICU patients and will support the small animal emergency clinician. Faculty clinicians are committed to providing consultation and back-up support for house officers assigned to emergency duty.
Interns employed by the VHC receive written evaluations 3 times per year, which are discussed with the faculty advisor.
The Veterinary Health Center is a modern, spacious facility on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. The University is in the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas with numerous recreational opportunities available.
