About This Role:

The Infrastructure Security Engineer supports the Infrastructure Security team by implementing and managing day-to-day cyber security protection and detection technologies. The position is key in enhancing security measures, optimizing costs, improving performance, and ensuring end-user satisfaction within the university's IT infrastructure.

Worksite Options:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Solid experience in cyber security infrastructure support, focusing on the operational aspects of cyber security protection and detection technologies.
  • Proficiency in applying security technologies, standards, and best practices within an operational context.
  • Practical experience in collaborating with vendors and understanding contractual aspects to support security initiatives.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with various stakeholders across the organization.

  • Operational Security Implementation: Proven ability to implement strategic initiatives in the realm of infrastructure security, focusing on the practical aspects of deploying security solutions and enhancing the university's defensive capabilities.
  • Cybersecurity Expertise: Solid knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and frameworks, particularly in applying these to safeguard IT infrastructure and ensure data integrity.
  • Technical Security Proficiency: Practical experience in the technical aspects of security architecture, including the operation and ongoing management of security systems and tools.
  • Budget Awareness for Security Tasks: Understanding of budget considerations in the context of security operations, ensuring efficient use of resources in security tasks and initiatives.
  • Security Technology Application: Skills in applying current and emerging security technologies to meet operational needs, enhancing the university's security posture.
  • Operational Efficiency in Security Services: Ability to contribute to the operational efficiency of the security team, ensuring effective protection across the IT infrastructure.
  • Security Project Participation: Experience in participating in security projects, supporting project management activities, and contributing to the successful completion of security enhancements.
  • Effective Security Communication: Good communication skills, with the ability to convey security concepts and requirements effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Teamwork in Security Operations: Experience in working collaboratively within the security team and building strong operational relationships to achieve security objectives.
  • Analytical and Operational Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on operational challenges in security, capable of identifying and implementing practical solutions.
  • Support in Security Operations and Strategy: Ability to support senior leadership in operationalizing security strategy, providing insights and recommendations for effective security management.
