About This Role

The College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) is seeking an IT Support Specialist II to join their team. This position will manage day-to-day help desk support services for HHS through overseeing student workers and being a second line of defense when they need assistance. The IT Support Specialist II will assist users by analyzing and researching IT issues, executing resolutions for IT issues, and responding to complications involving operating systems, software, hardware, and other IT applications used by both employees and students in the college. This position reports to the IT Director for HHS.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform hardware and software installations, maintaining computer equipment to ensure user efficiency
  • Train new faculty and staff on college and university systems
  • Coordinate with the Division of IT and develop training materials and sessions to help HHS users
  • Coordinate with the Systems Administrator to procure equipment, keeping an inventory of spare equipment and parts, and processing the distribution of spares to units
  • Provide recommendations on IT purchases
  • Manage and maintain all HHS computer systems to comply with college and university policies
  • Document and track all security incidents and maintain the HHS wiki, knowledge base, and support website
  • Support classroom management, to include keeping track of systems, needed updates, and coordinating with the IT Director as needed for upgrades
  • Manage network objects and administer network systems as needed
  • Serve as a backup member of the Security Incident Response team

After-hours work may occasionally be required for classroom management support (depending on when classes are scheduled) and specific projects with the IT Director.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems/technology, or related field
  • Experience in a technical support or IT role, with a proven track record of resolving technical issues
  • Proficiency in various operating systems and software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong customer service attitude
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Experience with K-State IT/systems
