About This Role:

K-State Salina seeks a Maintenance and Repair Tech II to provide general maintenance and repair services through effective facility management processes to include work order management for both scheduled and unscheduled activities in all buildings of a large university setting. It is the mission of the department to keep the buildings structurally sound, weatherproof, functional and attractive at Kansas State Salina campus to provide a comfortable, pleasing environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Position duties include but are not limited to: Carpentry, Building and Exterior Lighting Systems, HVAC and Exhaust systems, Plumbing, Cleaning, Grounds Maintenance, Snow Removal, and Tools and Equipment Maintenance.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires 1 year of relevant experience.  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.  This position is covered by the Kansas Association of Public Employees (KAPE) agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years experience in two or more building or mechanical trades with knowledge in basic electrical, carpentry, HVAC and plumbing.  Skilled experience in operating and maintenance of portable and stationary power tools. Ability to read and understand specific instructions in English.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license upon employment.
  • Completion of van training within probationary period.
  • Must have the mobility to access small work areas, climb ladders, and work in varying temperatures and heights. 
  • Work involves considerable physical exertion to transport materials/supplies weighing 50 pounds or more unassisted, regularly, on a daily basis. 
  • Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time. 
  • Various State vehicles and equipment, hand and powered tools of the trade, ladders, manual and powered lifts, shop vac, computer, personal protective equipment.

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$18.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
