About This Role

Housing and Dining Services seeks qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Supervisor Senior.  This “working supervisor” plans, organizes and directs maintenance related activities for several residence halls, large dining centers, and retail venues. Regular work hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.  This position reports to the Assistant Director, Facilities Management. 

 Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises, trains, coaches, evaluates maintenance staff
  • Develops a team of motivated, engaged staff committed to delivering exemplary customer service
  • Assists in the overall planning of maintenance operations, mechanical trades projects, remodeling and construction projects
  • Writes purchase requests and orders materials and equipment
  • Prepares estimates of labor and materials costs
  • Monitors facilities and equipment for adherence to various codes
  • Coordinates and schedules work with specialty trades and vendors
  • Develops preventative maintenance schedules
  • Develops, plans, monitors overall maintenance of facilities and equipment
  • Maintains and repairs commercial foodservice equipment
  • Inspects building and equipment

Worksite Option

The duties of this position are required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and 5 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of trade school or apprenticeship training in multiple mechanical trades
  • One year supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of commercial foodservice equipment and the ability to troubleshoot and repair the equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer service

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license upon employment
  • Completion of KSU Pillars of Leadership training within six months of appointment
