About This Role:

The Patent Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the intellectual property prosecution operations within the Kansas State University Research Foundation (KSURF) unit. This position involves managing, patenting, docketing, and accuracy to support the protection of intellectual property (IP) and technologies. The Patent Manager works closely with IP Counsel to advise the KSURF team on patent strategy and prosecution matters. The Patent Manager also ensures that technology transfer activities align with organizational goals, drive efficiency, and support the growth and success of commercialization initiatives.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., MBA, RTTP, Paralegal certificate) preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in intellectual property docket operations.
  • Strong understanding of technology transfer processes, IP prosecution, and IP management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in patent docketing software.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Knowledge of database management systems.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$53,581 - $69,633 annually
