About This Role

The K-State Social Work Program invites applicants to apply for a 9-month yearly term position as a Professor of Practice for the 2025-2026 academic year. We are searching for a skilled and passionate instructor with social work practice experience. Responsibilities for this position include teaching eight courses per year in core social work content, limited advising, and departmental and university service.


The program will target candidates with demonstrated expertise and teaching interest in areas of Direct Social Work Practice, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Social Policy, Macro Practice, and/or Research Methods. Ability to also support/ teach courses in Addictions Counseling and/or Criminology programs strongly desired. Specific teaching assignments are determined with consideration of interests and expertise of the candidate and departmental needs.

Worksite Option

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSW in Social Work from a CSWE-approved program.
  • At least five-years of social work practice experience post-MSW.
  • Qualified for Social Work licensure in Kansas as LMSW or LSCSW.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching in social work education.
  • Experience in working with different populations.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
